A friend's wedding in Santa Barbara

My friend Janie got married last week, and most of my linguistics department was invited to the wedding. The ceremony was in a little public garden in downtown Santa Barbara.

Here I am with one of my favorite professors, Sandy, who was on my MA committee.
And here are my friends Janie and Rich, with another one of my professors, Mary, officiating. (She only got licensed for one day to perform one wedding ceremony!)
The last two photos are me with my friend Vero, and a group shot of all of the lingusitics grad students who came to the wedding.

San Francisco

When mom and George were in California a few weeks ago, I met them in San Francisco, and we stayed at the Mark Twain Hotel. Here is George in the hotel lobby with the portrait of Mark Twain that he wished he could buy:

The Retirement Party I attended on June 18

was held at the library where I worked in the late 70's until Allison was born. 
You might remember Nancy (to my left--we went to library school together). Jo Ann is is the white jacket, she was the reference library at the time the other three women were students I supervised--can't believe they all celebrated their 50th birthday.  It ended up being unexpected reunion!

Summer in Chicago

Natan's parents visited us this past weekend and we all went on an architectural boat tour on the Chicago River. It was a hot/sunny day - we had a really fun time!




I've been spending a lot of time these past few weeks on my patio garden - I think it is finally finished. I planted a lot of herb plants, tomatoes, and peppers.




Happy belated Father's day, Poppy! I can't wait to see you and Grandma in Madison in a few weeks!

We had a big bbq over Memorial Day weekend for my birthday and Natan made me a delicious cake!
